APRIL 2012 PLAYLIST
Suprising amount of ‘Rock’ music kickin about at the moment. The Men, Alabama Shakes & White Fence all have some killer albums out at the moment that you should own if you dont already. The track ‘Geist’ by Dive would have to be my favorite for the month. Stay clear of the Hip Hop if language offends as both Banks and Exquire dont hold back, some quiter jems on the end with the great new album from Justin Hunter (available on iTunes) and Sun Araw get all Reggae
Enjoy

This playlist is a special dedication to my dear friend Courtney; for all the neglected months.
New music from Spiritualized is enough to be excited about but it was the quieter stuff from Howlin Rain (produced by Rick Rubin) and Father John Misty (drummer from Fleet Foxes) that was on constant repeat for me this month.
Sit back and enjoy
Regards

Fleet Foxes Drummer J. Tillman is finally ready to release his debut album this May. This is the first track on it which has been on repeat on my player for days now. Think early 70s country-folk with beautiful backing vocals.
Enjoy

I hate the internet.
Spend all your hard earned money on some great albums only to find all the key tracks are on the net for free legal download! OK ramble over, back to the music
So here we are again
Jack White, The Kills, Band of Skulls & The Mars Volta
Whoever said that rock was dead can think again this month with some great tracks from veteran artists as well as some great tunes from newer artists (Cloud Nothing). But it was White Fence’s little 60s pop ballad that did it for me. (Also check out Bill Callahan’s brilliant cover of Leonard Cohen’s So Long Marianne, brilliant)
…Oh did I mention Queens of the Stone Age covering on of my favourite Dylan tracks for charity? (mind loss ensues)
Enjoy
Mild Regards

Traditionally January is a fairly quiet period on the musical calendar with new releases usually not kicking off until February but unexpectedly here we have 19 new tracks worthy of your consideration.
There are new tracks and remixes from previous greats (The Big Pink, Wooden Shjips, Gonjasufi, Bear In Heaven & an amazing New Order cover from personal favourites Fujiya & Miyagi)
But it’s some of the new artists (new to my ears anyways) from the likes of Rockie Fresh, Keepaway & Oberhofer that show there are some good new sound waves on the musical horizon for 2012
So kick back, relax and bask in the sunshine in your mind
Somewhat sincerely
Salmond

Out of Dylan’s and Cohen’s recent music catalogues I still say Cohen does it better
Listen to “Darkness”, a bluesy new track from Leonard Cohen’s forthcoming album, Old Ideas.
None of the albums I picked made the Pitchfork top 10 albums
I take this as a good sign
So here it is; the big one
In no particular order here are 20 of my favourite tracks from the last 12 months, some you will know, hopefully some will be new (Probably the only list on earth not to include Bon Iver & M83)
check it out
